Life So Far
March 14, 2025. Can you believe how fast this year is running? It feels like January was just yesterday, but here we are, already deep into March. 2025 has been a packed year for me, challenging, fulfilling, and honestly, quite amazing. One of my biggest goals this year was to actively pursue my creative endeavors, and I’m grateful to be doing just that. I’ve also been more intentional about my health, exercising consistently, trying to eat better (emphasis on trying). A lot has happened in the past few months, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect and just take it all in.
At the start of the year, one of my goals was to write on Medium at least once a quarter. I always have ideas swirling in my head or scribbled down in my journal, but actually publishing them? That’s where the struggle is. I put so much pressure on myself to stick to my goals that I sometimes wonder, what’s the balance between pursuing your goals and your goals pursuing you? But hey, that’s a thought for another day.
So, what’s been happening?
I might not be able to capture everything, but I’ll share as much as I can remember.
Family & Personal Life
We celebrated my wife’s 30th birthday in January. When I asked what she wanted for her birthday, she said a small event. I laughed because who will fund it, biko? But we pulled it off, and it was a beautiful celebration with friends and family. Planning the event reminded me how much I enjoy putting things like this together — even though I sometimes pretend otherwise. The real question is, should everything you love become a money-making venture? (Another thought for another day.)
I also had a small birthday celebration in February, surrounded by family and loved ones, and it was perfect. Then, my wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary. Omo! Time is really flying. Honestly, after one year of marriage, I feel like we should start a podcast because I have experience now (lol). We took a trip to a resort , it was peaceful, reflective, and a much-needed time to think about our marriage, our growth, and the areas we can do better.
Creative Work
This year has been an exciting one creatively! We recorded two podcast episodes for Apejo, one for Motley, and continued with the Clarity Sessions for Motley, which have been going great. We’ve had three amazing speakers so far, and it’s been incredible seeing the impact.
Another huge milestone — I shot a video interview with Moyo as part of a new series we’re working on. The goal is to create a collection of insightful conversations that explore personal growth, leadership, and the creative process. This was a major step for me, not just in terms of storytelling but also in pushing myself to expand my creative reach. It’s one thing to have ideas, but executing them at a high level is where the real challenge lies. Shooting this interview reminded me of the power of well-crafted conversations and how much impact they can have.
The plan is to turn this into a full-fledged series, where we feature different guests who have compelling stories to share — stories that inspire, challenge, and push people toward their own greatness. This isn’t just about content; it’s about building a meaningful archive of wisdom and experience that people can always return to. I’m really excited to see this develop into something much bigger.
Beyond that, we launched the first physical copy of our comic, which is a huge deal! Now, we’re working on a full website where people can read the comics online, making them even more accessible. We’ve been writing more stories for the studio, and I cannot wait to see them come to life.
On top of that, we’re also working on our first animated video (yippee!). This has been a dream project, and seeing it take shape is beyond exciting. Animation is a whole new world, and stepping into it is both thrilling and challenging. The learning curve is steep, but the vision is clear — we want to bring our stories to life in a way that resonates deeply with people.
We also launched the website for my agency and started pushing more on socials. This year, we’re being more intentional about not just doing great work, but also showing great work. The goal is clear — create, document, and share. 🚀
Work & Career
Professionally, I’ve had more time to focus on key projects. We’re rebuilding our website, working on a research project, and developing a dashboard to help brands select influencers based on data — not just vibes. This tool is designed to help brands make smarter, data-driven decisions when working with influencers, and I’m excited about what it can do.
Beyond that, we’re handling client projects, expanding business development efforts, and finding ways to increase the value we offer. One major thing on my mind has been securing a job outside Nigeria. Applying for jobs can really make you reflect on what you do and don’t have. But honestly? My goal is to become so good that companies start poaching me instead of me spending all my time writing cover letters.
A Big Win: Becoming Debt-Free
The other day, I had a moment of realization — I AM DEBT-FREE. For some, this might seem like a normal thing, but for me, it’s a big deal. For years, I was always in one form of debt or another, sometimes big, sometimes small, but for the first time, I don’t owe anyone anything. This is a major milestone for me, especially considering how my money mindset has evolved in recent years. I might write about this in more detail someday, but in summary, I’ve been working on understanding money better — not in a desperate way, but in a way that puts me in control instead of money controlling me.
What’s on my mind / What I’m reading
My mind has been in many places, but a few key thoughts keep coming up:
- Money & Monetization — I’ve been thinking a lot about how to monetize my skills and talents. I know I’m a talented individual, so why does it feel like turning that into money is harder than it should be? This has led me to thoughts on personal branding — how much should I share, how should I position myself, and what’s the balance between authenticity and strategy?
- Visibility vs. Value — There’s been a lot of debate online about who has the authority to speak on certain topics, but that’s not my concern. My focus is how to balance who I am with what works in the world. I enjoy creating, but I’m not a huge fan of the self-validation posts on social media. Still, I recognize that if no one sees my work, it remains my work and nothing more. So, where’s the balance? (If you’ve figured this out, please email me at me@nifemiaikomo.com — I’d love to hear your thoughts!)
- Books I’ve Been Reading — I’ve actually been reading this year! I’ve finished two books:
- Emotional Intelligence at Work
- I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi
Reading more has always been a goal, but I usually fall short. This year, I’m staying on track and currently reading So Good They Can’t Ignore You by Cal Newport — and I’m loving it so far.
My Hopes for the Future
Lol, the future is literally tomorrow. But looking ahead, my focus remains on:
- Building — I have so many ideas, and I want to keep creating, telling amazing stories, and sharing them with the world.
- Faith — I need to pray more, fast more, and study the Word more (not just quick devotional reads!).
- Career — I want to land a job outside Nigeria before the end of April.
That’s where I’m at right now — processing, growing, and pushing forward. Here’s to more wins, more growth, and more LIFE. 🚀
